MLA Paper: Biometrics

MLA Paper: Biometrics

I have done several papers using MLA and using the Google Docs was just as easy as any other outside of adding the page numbers. I really like this app as well. I can really see the benefit of this free app as opposed to the very expensive software for a new college student.

Word Processing with Google Docs

I really enjoyed using the word processing application in Google Docs. It is alot of fun and sharing them with the teacher is amazing. She can make suggestions and even changes on the document from her computer and it will automatically make changes on your copy. This is such an exciting class to me.

Google Calendars

I learned how to create great calendars using Google Calendars. I loved the idea of an email reminder of when important assignments are due. I really need that!

My iGoogle

iGoogle is just about anything you want it to be. You can customize your homepage to suit your needs. The idea is to make the page easy for the user to get to points of interest the use on a regular basis.

My iGoogle page is all about me! I got to choose things that are of interest to me. I love trivia so "Useless Knowledge" is fun to me. I like to know about the weather, my gmail is within view, and being able to customize the theme was inspirational.

My Gmail

Gmail is amazing. It is free and easy to use. Through the documents tab I have access to word documents, spreadsheets, presentations and more. I have the ability to share my work with my teacher from anywhere!

Cloud Computing Introduction

I returned to college a year ago. I earned my first college degree 30 years ago. To return to teaching I am earning a degree through SFCC (my first college was not state accredited). I first meet Dr. Stevens in Intro to Microcomputers. I learned so much in her class. I have promised myself to take as many computer classes as she can offer. I am excited about learning as much as I can in the "clouds".
  • I found out about this class through Dr. Stevens. So far I have learned to blog (this is a first for me).
  • One of the greatest advantages to cloud computing is SPACE. Nothing is stored on your computer's memory.
  • I am not sure what the disadvantages could be yet but I am taking the class to find that out.
  • I am excited about this class and look forward to learning as much as possible!
